We started working on Finimize MyLife (FML) to answer one big question: what should I be doing with my money? 🤔

It’s a pretty complicated one to unpack, with a very different answer for each person.

Financial advisors have been helping people sort this out for years (at a cost), but we’ve been trying to get to the bottom of it for the rest of us; those who either can’t afford or can’t be bothered to seek out proper financial advice.

Over the past months, we’ve been in Alpha as we built out the tools that hundreds of Alpha testers have used to generate their own financial plans. It’s been great working with our users to identify the issues they have with their finances and to structure the things they want to achieve in life.

There’s still a ways to go, but we’ve gotten the app to a point now where someone can generate a customized financial plan in just a few minutes and find the answer to that initial question we set out to solve.

So what’s next?

Now we’re launching the next big step for FML: Tracking.

As of today, you’ll be able to generate a financial plan, set your goals in life (e.g. buy a house or maximize investments), figure out how to work towards them, and track your progress each and every month.

To get started, finish planning a goal, click on the “Track” tab, and start tracking progress from there:

The new Track tab

I’ll be totally straight — this is in Alpha. This isn’t a final solution, and things will likely change. But we now have the building blocks in place to make something great with and for our community.

Hat’s off to the engineering team for getting this out the door (lots of work under the hood when accounting for people with multiple goals, bank accounts, and timelines) — We’re really excited to see our users put it to work in following their plans and making the most of their lives 🚀

P.S. We’re looking for as much feedback as possible on this and we’ll be testing out some new features in the coming weeks to help make tracking your plan easier and more accurate.
